Some companies may waive their fee when doing work, however their cost for coming to your home does not go away, they have simply divided the cost into the repairs/parts you would have purchased. We typically charge an $80 total trip fee plus parts/repair, that includes the $65.00 Service Fee, and our $15 fuel charge. The fuel charge is something we can quickly adjust when gas prices drastically increase, while our service call fee has been the same for over 5 years. When we do phone quotes we tell customers the Total Trip fee is $80, I have reviewed your phone call and found our National Call Center that handles phone calls over night and on weekends, misquoted you and only mentioned the $65 fee, so I will have a check sent out today to refund your $15 fuel charge. We really appreciated the quick response on a Saturday when we needed emergency garage door repair. However, we understand that a service call fee is necessary, because a trip to a house does not guarantee a job, but typically that fee is deducted from the bill if the company completes the job. Also, the $15.00 fuel fee should be included in the service call fee, not in addition too. This would make us think twice before calling your company again.
